"MINERALS" 2020

Glass Artist

Maj-Britt Zelmer Olsen

"When I work with glass, my focus is always on making the most of the inherent qualities of glass such as transparency and optics. In combination with natural minerals such as ash, iron and sand from different places around the world, I create contrasting, tactile surfaces that give the glass new dimensions.

This series of unique works is inspired by the nature on Bornholm around Nexø and Dueodde, especially from bark from trees, lava ash and moss, as well as the decay of buildings at Nexø harbor.

I want, with the works, to create a powerfulraw and contrasting expression between the rough exterior and the sharp, shiny surface, which gives the works an extra dimension in the form of optical illusion, where one doubts where the work starts and ends. "

Due to the situation, no vernissage will be held, but on the opening day, Thursday 30 July, the gallery be open from kl. 12:00 am to 19:00 am, where Glass Artist Maj-Britt Zelmer Olsen will be present during the day.

If you would like to visit the gallery at another time, please feel free to contact us.

Very Best
